Ian Wilson is a senior partner in the firm and is recognised as one of the region’s foremost Employment lawyers.
He is a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s Negligence Panel .
In 1993 he was appointed a Recorder ( i.e part time circuit judge ) of the Crown Court ( retired 2008 ) and in 1997 was made a Higher Courts Advocate in Criminal and Civil cases.
He was for nine years a part time Employment Tribunal Judge having previously been part time chairman of the Social Security Tribunal.
On 23rd May 2006 he became an accredited mediator with CEDR
In June 2006 he was shortlisted by Law Works for a national award for pro bono work for the victims of the July 05 London bombings
He is a Law Society mentor for those seeking Higher Courts Rights qualification

Admitted a Solicitor in 1969 he is one of the founding partners of the firm Dean Wilson LLP in Brighton. In the 1970s he acted ( for the mother ) in the then longest-running Public Enquiry into Social Services in the sad case of Maria Colwell.
He acts for employers and employees in the Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal , Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. In 2006 he acted for an MoD employee in a test case about the rights of MoD civilian employees working abroad. The case went as far as the House of Lords ( now Supreme Court ) and his client was successful. The English case was a ground breaking case dealing with homophobic taunts of a known heterosexual.
He also acts in personal injury cases for claimants and sometimes for uninsured defendants in cases of all types including brain injury, stress at work , and clinical negligence.
He also acts for claimants in professional negligence cases against solicitors, accountants, surveyors and financial advisers, and in construction disputes including adjudications.
In appropriate cases he will agree to act on a conditional fee basis ( no win no fee ) .
MEDIATION
A CEDR accredited mediator since 2006 he has received the following comments about his skill as a mediator:
