Ian Wilson is the Senior Partner of Dean Wilson LLP. He now specialises in Employment, Personal Injury and Professional Negligence. Ian was accredited as a Mediator by CEDR in May 2006. He was part-time Chairman of the Employment Tribunals for nine years.

He is a board member of Martlets Hospice and a member of the Personal Injury Panel. Ian is also a Higher Courts Advocate and was a Recorder in the Crown Court 1993 to 2008. Ian regularly features in local publications providing legal advice to the community.To see a full CV click on picture.

David Barling - Partner

David Barling is the Partner in charge of the Commercial Department. He specialises in all forms of company and commercial property law. He has extensive experience of development and planning law. He is the Honorary Solicitor to the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) and the Honorary Solicitor to the National Landlords Association (NLA). He was a local Government Councillor for many years and has been Mayor of Hove.

Georgina James is a Partner and is the Head of the Private Client Department dealing with Wills, Trusts and Probate. She specialises in Inheritance Tax Planning, Trusts and Court of protection work including Deputyship and Lasting Powers of Attorney. She is also involved in the creation of charities and charitable trusts. She is a Governor of St Christophers School, a Volunteer for the Prince's Trust and a Member of the Rotary Club. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and a key member of Brighton society.

Claire Whiteman is a Partner and was admitted in 1994.

She is a formidable Commercial Litigator with a particular expertise in Landlord and Tenant Law, Enfranchisement, Building Disputes and Professional Negligence.

Claire is admired and respected for her technical expertise and incisive efficiency by clients and adversaries alike. Many of her new clients are those she has acted against in the past.

She is the Honorary Solicitor to the Brighton and Hove Estate Agents Association (BHEA).

Julian Hunt - Partner

Julian was admitted in 1998 and is Head of the Family Law Department. He an ex-President of the Sussex Law Society.

Julian is one of the first Solicitors in this area to become a trained Collaborative Family Lawyer.

Julian remains the longest golf driving Solicitor in England.

Siobhan Cox became a Partner in 2005 and specialises in Residential and Commercial Property Law. Having trained with the firm she qualified in 2003 and has since built up an extensive knowledge in the commercial property field particularly in relation to commercial leases.

Samantha Dickinson - Partner

Samantha Dickinson, having qualified in 2001, was made a Partner in April 2009.  She specialises in Employment Law, but also has expertise in both Civil and Commercial Litigation. 

She regularly represents clients in both the Employment Tribunal and the County Courts and has had a number of notable successes.  She also holds seminars providing employment updates to existing and potential clients.
 
Samantha is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

James Chadburn - Partner

James specialises in Company/Commercial Law particularly the acquisition and disposal of businesses and companies with particular expertise in the sale and purchase of letting and estate agents.  James advises on shareholder issues, drafting company constitutional documentation and shareholders agreements.  He also has expertise in the preparation of service agreements and terms and conditions of business.

Outside of the office, James’ life is dominated by sport and his dog.  He plays cricket in the Sussex Premier League whilst James is a playing member and match manager of the MCC and Sussex Martlets.

Rebecca Miles joined the firm as a trainee Solicitor in 2003. Having qualified in 2005 she now works as a solicitor in the Private Client department specialising in Wills, Trusts and Probate.

Rebecca is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly and is therefore able to advise on a range of issues specific to the elderly. She is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Emily Fitzpatrick - Partner

Emily joined the firm in 2005 as a trainee and qualified as a Solicitor in 2007. She now is an integral part of the Landlord and Tenant department specialising in both residential and commercial property and housing litigation and enfranchisement.

Emily regularly represents clients in both the County Court and the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal. She provides the acceptable face of the Firm at Conferences and Seminars and can be heard giving talks for the Federation of Residential Landlords.

Ursula Tanner is an Executive in the Private Client Dept dealing with Wills, Trusts and Probate. She specialises in all areas of taxation of Individuals, Trusts and Estates.

She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is also a trained law costs draftsman. She joined DWL in February 2007.

Since October 2010 Ursula is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Age Concern Brighton Hove & Portlade.
